Music - Instrumental
Michael Vita is the Instrumental Music Teacher at Charter Oak International Academy and Aiken Elementary Schools. He received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education at Central Connecticut State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He has earned honors on both the Dean’s List and President’s List at CCSU, as well as his Eagle Scout award from the Boy Scouts of America in 2008. When Michael is not teaching, he enjoys beat-boxing and singing in his professional a cappella group ‘Fifth Floor’, which is based out of the central CT area.
Instrumental Music is offered to children in grades 4 and 5. The children have an opportunity to receive group instrumental music lessons. Performing groups, both band and orchestra, hold rehearsals before school and/or at recess time. Members of the band and orchestra perform at the music concerts.
Talented fourth and fifth grade musicians may be invited to audition for the Inter-Elementary Music Festival Band, String Orchestra or Chorus. Students who are accepted rehearse every Thursday after school from January to June, culminating in a final concert at the Bushnell Auditorium in Hartford.
